A fast and flavorful 15-minute meal featuring sweet and savory glazed shrimp, perfect for busy weeknights or unexpected guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large or extra-large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Jasmine rice or noodles for serving

Instructions

  1. If using frozen shrimp, thaw in cold water and pat completely dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
  3. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add vegetable oil and wait until it shimmers.
  4. Add shrimp in a single layer (cook in batches if necessary to avoid crowding). Cook for 1-2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp from pan and set aside.
  5. Reduce heat to medium. Pour the prepared sauce into the same pan. Simmer for 30 seconds until slightly thickened.
  6. Return the shrimp to the pan and toss gently to coat in the sauce. Cook for another 30 seconds to heat through.
  7. Remove from heat, garnish with green onions, and serve immediately over hot rice or noodles.

Notes

Ensure shrimp are completely dry before cooking to achieve a proper sear rather than steaming. Do not overcrowd the pan. Honey burns easily, so monitor heat carefully once the sauce is added. For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos.
