Perfect Build-Your-Own Charcuterie Board For Two

charcuterie board for two - featured image

A small, intentional charcuterie board for two people who want to sit on the couch and pick at things while they talk about their day. It feels generous but not wasteful, romantic but not fussy, and completely customizable depending on what you’re craving.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ounces Brie cheese
  • 3 ounces Aged cheddar
  • 2 ounces Goat cheese log
  • 4 slices Prosciutto di Parma
  • 4 slices Genoa salami
  • 2 slices Soppressata (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Marcona almonds
  • 1/4 cup Dried figs
  • 1/4 cup Cornichons
  • 2 tablespoons Fig jam or honey
  • 1 small Apple or pear, sliced
  • 1 small Baguette or 4 ounces crackers
  • Optional: Fresh grapes or berries

Instructions

  1. Take your brie, cheddar, and goat cheese out of the fridge about 30 minutes before you plan to serve. While you wait, slice the baguette into thin rounds (about 1/4 inch thick) and set them aside.
  2. Cut the aged cheddar into thin triangles or small cubes. For the brie, leave it whole or cut it into wedges. The goat cheese can stay in a log shape or be crumbled into a small pile.
  3. Lay the prosciutto slices flat on a cutting board. If they’re long, cut them in half crosswise. Roll each piece loosely into a small rosette or fold it into a ribbon shape. Do the same with the salami and soppressata.
  4. Core the apple or pear and slice it into thin wedges. If you’re not serving immediately, toss the slices with a little lemon juice to prevent browning. Rinse the grapes and pat them dry.
  5. Place your board on a flat surface. Start with the cheese—place them in three different spots around the board. Add the small bowls for the fig jam, cornichons, and almonds. Then, arrange the meats in small piles or folds near the cheese.
  6. Tuck the fruit slices, crackers, and baguette slices into the empty spaces. Don’t overcrowd—you want each ingredient to be visible and easy to reach. Scatter a few almonds and figs around for a decorative touch.
  7. Drizzle a little honey over the brie or goat cheese if you’re using it. Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over the cheddar. Serve immediately, or cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours. If you refrigerate, let it sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Take cheese out of fridge 30 minutes before serving for best flavor. For a gluten-free option, swap baguette for gluten-free crackers or rice cakes. If you don’t eat pork, substitute prosciutto with thinly sliced turkey or roast beef.
