Eerie Black Cauldron Halloween Punch - featured image

A visually stunning Halloween punch with dry ice that creates a low-lying fog, perfect for parties. This easy, kid-friendly recipe combines blackberry, blueberry, lemonade, and pineapple juices with ginger ale for a deliciously eerie black-purple drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups blackberry juice (e.g., Knudsen’s Just Blackberry)
  • 3 cups blueberry juice
  • 2 cups lemonade
  • 2 cups pineapple juice
  • 4 cups ginger ale
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2–3 pounds dry ice
  • 1 small plastic cauldron or punch bowl
  • Frozen blackberries and blueberries (optional garnish)
  • Dry ice chunks in a separate smaller bowl (optional)
  • Plastic spiders or gummy worms (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your dry ice first: Put on gloves or use tongs. Place the block on a towel and use a hammer to break it into 1-2 inch chunks. Set aside in a bowl or paper bag. Do not store in an airtight container.
  2. Mix the juice base: In your cauldron or punch bowl, combine blackberry juice, blueberry juice, lemonade, pineapple juice, and cold water. Stir gently until well combined. The color should be a very dark, almost black purple.
  3. Chill everything thoroughly: Refrigerate the juice mixture for at least 2 hours (ideally below 40°F) for best fog effect.
  4. Add the ginger ale right before serving: Pour in the ginger ale and stir gently.
  5. Add the dry ice: Using tongs, carefully drop 2-3 chunks of dry ice into the punch. Do not use more than that at once.
  6. Stir occasionally: Every 10-15 minutes, give the punch a gentle stir to release trapped fog. Add another piece of dry ice as needed to maintain fog level.
  7. Serve immediately: Ladle the punch into cups, making sure no pieces of dry ice end up in anyone’s drink.

Notes

Never touch dry ice with bare hands. Never swallow dry ice. Ensure guests know the fog is safe to breathe but solid pieces are not. Store dry ice in a paper bag in the freezer, not an airtight container. For best fog effect, chill the juice base thoroughly. Add dry ice in batches of 2-3 chunks for controlled fog.
