  • Coconut milk – use instead of regular milk (for Coconut Mango variation)

Instructions

  1. Mix the wet ingredients: In a small bowl or directly in the mason jar, combine ½ cup milk, ¼ cup Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey, and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth. If using peanut butter or cocoa powder for the chocolate version, whisk them in now so they dissolve completely.
  2. Add the dry ingredients: Stir in ½ cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, and a tiny pinch of salt. Mix until everything is evenly combined.
  3. Layer in your flavorings: For the berry almond version, gently fold in the berries and almonds. For the apple cinnamon, stir in the diced apple and cinnamon. For the coconut mango, use coconut milk instead of regular milk, then fold in the mango and shredded coconut. For the peanut butter chocolate, make sure the cocoa and peanut butter are fully incorporated.
  4. Seal and refrigerate: Screw the lid on tightly and place the jar in the fridge. Leave it for at least 6 hours, but overnight (8-12 hours) is ideal.
  5. Stir before eating: In the morning, take the jar out of the fridge. Give it a good stir. If the oats seem too thick, add a splash of milk and stir again. If they’re too thin, let them sit for another 30 minutes.
  6. Add toppings: Top with extra berries, a drizzle of peanut butter, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or a dollop of yogurt.

Notes

Overnight oats keep in the fridge for up to 5 days. The texture improves after day two. For vegan version, use plant-based milk and dairy-free yogurt. For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free oats. For nut-free, replace peanut butter with sunflower seed butter and use pumpkin seeds instead of almonds or pecans.
