Quick and fun Halloween dinner made with hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll dough, baked to golden perfection. Ready in just 15 minutes, these mummy hot dogs are a crowd-pleaser for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-size hot dogs
  • 1 can (8-count) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into 8 triangles along perforated lines.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 to 4 long, thin strips (about 1/2-inch wide).
  4. Take one hot dog and start wrapping a strip of dough around it at a slight diagonal angle, overlapping slightly. Leave a small gap at the top (about 1/2 inch) for the face and a tiny gap at the bottom for feet. Press the end of the dough to seal. Repeat with all hot dogs.
  5. Place wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet. Dip a toothpick into yellow mustard and dab two small dots onto the exposed hot dog at the top of each mummy for eyes.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to make an egg wash. Brush the egg wash over all exposed dough strips.
  7. Bake on the center rack for 10 to 13 minutes, or until the dough is puffed and deep golden brown.
  8. Let cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to a serving platter. Serve warm with extra mustard, ketchup, or dipping sauces.

Notes

For best results, use all-beef hot dogs for better snap and flavor. Avoid jumbo hot dogs. If dough is sticky, lightly dust fingers and cutting board with flour. Don’t overwrap—leave room for dough to expand. Assemble up to a day in advance and refrigerate. For air fryer: cook at 350°F (175°C) for 6-8 minutes. To freeze: assemble without egg wash, freeze solid, then bake from frozen adding 3-5 minutes.
