Christmas tree cake dip - featured image

A quick and easy no-bake dessert dip shaped like a Christmas tree, made with cream cheese, powdered sugar, and festive sprinkles. Perfect for last-minute holiday parties and kid-friendly gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring (gel preferred)
  • Assorted sprinkles (Christmas-themed)
  • 1 star-shaped sprinkle or candy
  • Sugar cookies or graham crackers for dipping

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese: Take your cream cheese out of the fridge about 30 minutes before you start. If you forgot, you can microwave it in 10-second bursts until it’s soft but not melted. Cut it into cubes first to speed things up.
  2. Mix the base: Place the softened cream cheese in your mixing bowl. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with your spatula halfway through to make sure everything incorporates evenly.
  3. Add the color: Add a few drops of green food coloring and mix until the color is evenly distributed. Start with a small amount—you can always add more, but you can’t take it out. I usually add about 4-5 drops of gel coloring to get a nice Christmas tree green. If you’re using liquid coloring, start with 2-3 drops.
  4. Shape the tree: Transfer the green dip to your serving platter. Using your spatula, shape it into a triangle that looks like a Christmas tree. Start with a wide base and taper it up to a point at the top. Don’t stress about perfection—the sprinkles will cover any imperfections.
  5. Decorate the tree: Sprinkle your assorted sprinkles all over the green dip, pressing them in gently so they stick. Focus on making it look festive—cover the whole tree shape with sprinkles, leaving a small space at the top for the star. Place your star sprinkle or candy at the very top of the tree.
  6. Add the dipping items: Arrange your sugar cookies or graham crackers around the base of the tree. I like to fan them out in a circle so it looks like presents around the tree. If you’re using pretzel sticks, you can stick them into the dip like tree branches for an extra fun presentation.
  7. Serve immediately or chill: This dip is best served right away while the cream cheese is still soft and creamy. If you need to make it ahead, cover it loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before serving so it softens up again.

Notes

Room temperature cream cheese is essential for a smooth dip. If you forget to soften it, cut into cubes and microwave in 10-second bursts. Don’t overmix after adding food coloring to avoid a fluffy texture. Press sprinkles in gently so they stick. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free cream cheese and powdered sugar. The dip can be made up to 24 hours ahead; add sprinkles just before serving.
