These easy 5-ingredient peanut butter protein balls are the perfect healthy snack. Made with peanut butter, oats, honey, chocolate chips, and flaxseed, they come together in just 10 minutes and are great for busy weeks, post-workout refueling, or a quick afternoon pick-me-up.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240g) creamy natural peanut butter
  • 1 cup (90g) rolled oats
  • ⅓ cup (110g) honey
  • ½ cup (85g) mini chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons (14g) ground flaxseed

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup peanut butter and ⅓ cup honey. Stir until fully combined and smooth.
  2. Add 1 cup rolled oats, ½ cup mini chocolate chips, and 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed. Stir until no dry patches remain. If mixture is too dry, add a teaspoon of honey or water; if too wet, add a tablespoon more oats.
  3. Optional: Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes to make rolling easier.
  4. Using your hands or a cookie scoop, portion about 1 tablespoon of mixture and roll into smooth balls. Place on a baking sheet or plate. You should get about 16-18 balls.
  5. Refrigerate the balls for at least 30 minutes to set. For best texture, chill for 1 hour.
  6. Enjoy immediately or transfer to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

Use room temperature peanut butter for easier mixing. Wet your hands with water if mixture sticks while rolling. Chilling the mixture before rolling makes it easier. For vegan version, substitute honey with maple syrup and use dairy-free chocolate chips. For nut-free, use sunflower seed butter or tahini.
