Crispy Mini Football Sausage Rolls - featured image

A quick and reliable game day snack featuring mini sausages wrapped in flaky puff pastry, seasoned with mustard, garlic, and paprika for a crispy, handheld treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry, thawed
  • 1215 Mini Sausages (cocktail wieners)
  • 1 Large Egg, whisked with 1 tablespoon water or milk
  • 1 Teaspoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Tablespoon Sesame Seeds
  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • Butter, softened (optional, for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface and roll to 1/8 inch thickness. Brush the entire surface lightly with Dijon mustard.
  3. Place a mini sausage at one end of the dough and roll tightly around it. Trim excess dough and repeat with remaining sausages, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  4. Cut the long rolls diagonally into oval football shapes. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet and press seams gently to seal.
  5. Brush tops with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Press seeds in gently.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes until deep golden brown and puffed. Cover with foil if tops brown too quickly.
  7. Transfer to a cooling rack and let sit for at least 5 minutes before serving to allow pastry to crisp.

Notes

Keep dough cold until baking for best flakiness. Ensure sausages are at room temperature to cook evenly. Do not overcrowd the baking sheet to prevent steaming. Reheat in oven or air fryer to maintain crispness; avoid microwave.
