This quick and easy cinnamon sugar Christmas tree bread is made with refrigerated biscuit dough, butter, cinnamon, and sugar. It’s a festive, pull-apart treat perfect for holiday mornings or parties, ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (16.3 oz, 8 count) refrigerated biscuit dough (e.g., Pillsbury Grands!)
  • ¼ cup (4 tablespoons, 56 grams) unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup (100 grams) granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (16 grams) ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • Optional icing: ½ cup (60 grams) powdered sugar mixed with 1-2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt ¼ cup unsalted butter in a small microwave-safe bowl (30-45 seconds). Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine ½ cup granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until well combined.
  4. Open the can of refrigerated biscuit dough. Separate the 8 biscuits and place on a cutting board. Cut each biscuit into 4 equal quarters (32 pieces total).
  5. Dip each biscuit quarter in melted butter (let excess drip off), then roll in cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  6. Arrange coated pieces on the prepared baking sheet in a Christmas tree shape: 1 piece at top, then rows of 2, 3, 4, and 5 pieces. Place 2-3 pieces vertically at bottom for trunk. Leave small gaps between pieces.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. The cinnamon sugar will bubble and caramelize.
  8. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes. If using icing, mix ½ cup powdered sugar with 1-2 tablespoons milk until smooth, then drizzle over warm bread. Serve warm, pulling apart pieces.

Notes

Don’t oversaturate dough with butter; dip quickly. Work in batches if doubling. Use hands to gently press pieces into tree shape. Check for doneness at 12 minutes; tent with foil if browning too fast. Let rest 5 minutes before serving. Can prep cinnamon sugar and melted butter ahead.
